(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On March 30, 2015 at approximately 5:32 pm, officers with the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol in the Township of Atikokan.
Police conducted a check on a stationary motor vehicle on the 200 Block of Burns Street. After speaking to the driver of the motor vehicle, the driver demonstrated symptoms of impairment to police. The driver, Ellen RIPLEY, age 49 years of Atikokan was arrested and transported to the Atikokan OPP Detachment for tests. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory 7 days.
The driver was subsequently charged with two offences contrary to the Criminal Code:
Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
Having More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Milliliters of Blood
The accused will appear in Atikokan Provincial Court on April 23, 2015.
