Election Signs Damaged/Destroyed

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) –Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating six (6) political campaign signs being damaged or destroyed in the West Elgin area over the last week. The signs were for Karen VECCHIO – Conservative Candidate for Elgin-Middlesex-London.

The signs were damaged or destroyed at the following locations:

1/ Graham & Thompson Line, just south of West Lorne, 4×4 sign burnt (Twice)

2/ Queens Line and Graham, just north of West Lorne, 4×4 sign burnt

3/ Pioneer Line at Dunborough intersection, on “S” bend, 4×4 sign burnt

4/ Currie Road at Lakeview (Backus Page Museum corner), 4×4 sign burnt

5/ Talbot Line; just East of Chatham Kent border, sign damaged

6/ 4×4 sign at Clachan entrance; just east of intersection, sign damaged

“It is illegal to damage, steal or move election signs. If found responsible you may be charged criminally with Mischief or Theft.” Stated Constable Troy Carlson, Elgin County OPP Media Relations Officer.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for these mischiefs should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or 519-631-2920 or their nearest police authority.
