(ESPANOLA, ON)- On September 11, 2016, at approximately 12:01 a.m., members from the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Highway 6, in the town of Espanola.
As a result of the investigation, it was found that the male driver was disqualified from driving.
Edward PELTIER, 48 years of age, from Wikwemikong, was arrested and charged with the following:
Driving while disqualified, contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code.
Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act
The vehicle the accused was operating was towed and impounded for 45 days under the Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP).
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on November 3, 2016.
