Vehicle Pursuit – Driver Arrested
On December 13, 2012, at 1:24 p.m., Guelph Police stopped a vehicle on Wyndham Street North Guelph for a Highway Traffic Offence. As the officer approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, it sped off and turned westbound onto MacDonnell Street where it had to stop due to traffic congestion. The officer walked up to the driver’s side of the vehicle and tried to speak with the driver. The congestion cleared, and the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed driving over the officer’s foot and onto the sidewalk, turning northbound on Norfolk Street.
The vehicle was pursued and stopped a short time later on Woolwich Street North where the driver was arrested.
The officer received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
Edward MCMULLEN 23 years of Guelph was charged with Dangerous Driving, Flight from Police and Assault Police. He will appear in court in January.
