East Algoma OPP Press Releases

(SPANISH ON)- On September 22, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic related incident. An intoxicated male had left his residence and was in breach of his conditions in the Town of Spanish.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., police located and arrested the intoxicated male on Trunk Road. Police attended a residence on Trunk Road and learned that the male had thrown his wife’s phone and damaged it.

While in the rear of the cruiser the male began to kick the rear passenger doors and challenged the officer and uttered threats towards the officer. Police used Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray to gain control of the male.

As a result of the investigation, a 33 year old male from Spanish, Ontario was charged with:

Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC);

Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC;

Mischief – Domestic, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC;

Mischief Over $5000, contrary to section 430(3) of the CC; and

Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC.

The accused is appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on September 23, 2016.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION-FEMALE CHARGED

(IRON BRIDGE, ON)- On September 24, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 17, in the Town of Iron Bridge.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., a vehicle pulled out of a local gas station parking lot into the path of a westbound vehicle on Highway 17. There were no injuries sustained and no tow required.

As a result of the investigation, Penn ANDREOLA, 54 years of age from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Fail to Yield from Driveway, contrary to section 139(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
