(BLUEWATER, ON) – A traffic stop just before 8:00 a.m. on October 30, 2012 has resulted in a 40 year old male being arrested and held in custody. At 7:54 a.m. a Huron County OPP officer stopped a silver Nissan pick-up truck that was travelling southbound on Bronson Line.
Upon speaking with the male driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver also displayed several signs of impairment. A driver’s licence check was completed and it revealed the driver was prohibited from driving. Further checks revealed the truck was not insured and the proper licence plates were not attached to the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Gregory LOVIE, age 40 from Bluewater has been charged with:
Impaired Driving contrary to section 253 (1) (a) Criminal Code
Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to section 253 (1) (b) Criminal Code
Four Counts of Drive Disqualified contrary to section 259 (4) (a) Criminal Code
Operate a Motor without Insurance contrary to section 2(1) (a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle contrary to section 12 (1) (d) Highway Traffic Act
Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner contrary to section 11 (2) Highway Traffic Act
He remains in custody with a court date scheduled for November 6, 2012 at the Ontario Court of Justice Goderich. The pickup truck will be impounded for 45 days.
