A 27 year old Dutton-Dunwich man is dead after being crushed by a large log that had rolled off the bucket of a tractor. The man was transporting the log, which was approximately 7.3 metres long and 50cm’s in diameter, on top of the bucket of the tractor and in the process of reversing the log rolled off the bucket and down the buckets arms and into the open cab area.
The driver of the tractor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified the deceased as Benjamin Gerald SAMPLONIUS, age 27 of Dutton-Dunwich.
No foul play is suspected and the Ministry of Labour had been called in and continues to investigate.
