Drunk Tractor Driver Hits 82 Year Old Pedestrian

(CAMPBELL TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday, May 1, 2016 members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision involving a farm tractor and a pedestrian that had occurred on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at a farm in Campbell Township, Ontario. An 82 year old pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of this investigation, Peter PAISLEY, age 49 of Campbell Township, Ontario has been charged with impaired driving contrary to section 253 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code, care or control of a motor vehicle – over 80 mg, contrary to section 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code, failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harm, contrary to section 252(1.2) of the Criminal Code, and failing to provide the necessities of life, contrary to section 215(2) (b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 27, 2016.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
