(North Kawartha, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called just after 10:30pm on Saturday night to stop a possible impaired driver on Highway 28.
A citizen called 911 while following a vehicle that was all over the roadway. When OPP officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle near Burleigh Falls, it veered wildly at responding officers and failed to stop. Ultimately, the vehicle stopped after a spike belt was deployed by officers.
Amanda Judith LEE (age 32) of Highlands East Township, ON was arrested and charged. The accused will be charged with the following Criminal offences:
Impaired driving
Driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in her blood
Dangerous driving
Flight while pursued by police
The accused was held in custody and will appear in Peterborough Provincial court later today for a bail hearing.
