Drunk Driver Narrowly Misses Police Cruiser In Listowel

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Saturday April 16, 2016, around 4:30 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol in the south end of Listowel had to make an evasive manoeuvre with an OPP vehicle to avoid being struck by a small pickup truck.

The OPP officer was on general patrol in a fully marked OPP cruiser along Donegan St. West approaching Wallace Ave South. A Mazda pickup truck turning onto Donegan St West from Wallace Ave South entered the path of the OPP cruiser. The officer was able to steer the cruiser to the right thereby avoiding a collision. The Mazda truck was pulled over and the female driver was found to display signs of impairment. The female was taken to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

She was released on a Promise to Appear and is to attend at the Listowel Ontario Court of Justice on May 18, 2016, to answer to these charges.

Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her Mazda pickup truck was impounded for a period of seven days as per statue.
