Drunk Driver Ditches Vehicle Aiding Other Drunk Driver – Both Arrested

(NORTH BAY, ON) – On October 10, 2015, at approximately 9: 50 p.m., members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of two collisions on Guillemette Road, Municipality of East Ferris.

Upon arrival at the scene, OPP were met by East Ferris Fire Department and North Bay & District Ambulance Service.

It was reported to police that one vehicle was northbound when the driver lost control, and it entered the ditch. A second vehicle stopped to offer assistance, and the driver reversed their vehicle into the ditch.

After further investigation, police arrested and charged both drivers.

The first vehicle that entered the ditch was driven by Angela LOXTON, age 38, of Mattawa, Ontario. She is charged with:

Driving While Ability Impaired-Motor Vehicle, section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, section 253(1)(b) CC;

Assault a Peace Officer, section 270(a) CC;

Fail to Have Insurance Card, section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)

Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container, section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA)

Driver Fail to Surrender Licence, section 33(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The driver of the second motor vehicle was Colleen BEAULIEU, age 52, of Sebright, Ontario. She is charged with:

Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, section 253(1)(b) CC.

A passenger from the first vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Both accused persons were released from custody and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on October 27, 2015.
