(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On April 21, 2016, at approximately 6:27 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), observed a driver using a hand-held communication device in a motor vehicle travelling on John Street.
A traffic stop of the grey Kia sport utility vehicle (SUV) was conducted. Officers determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. He was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.
As a result of the police investigation, 47-year-old Robert GLENDINNING, from North Middlesex, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with drive motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held device, and driving while under suspension X3.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer to the charges in a London court on May 24, 2016.
