(Ottawa) – On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, the Ottawa Police Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Team, executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrants at residences – one in the 1-100 block of Woodvale Green, the other in the 1-100 block of Goldridge Drive.
As a result of the investigation, 9 adults were arrested and charged. The warrant executions were the culmination of a one month investigation.
Included in the items seized at the two locations were:
11,653.8 grams (26 lbs) of marihuana valued at $116,538.00
19.7 grams of “Shatter” valued at $1970.00
Approximately $22,000.00 in Canadian currency
494.4 grams of marihuana valued at $4,944.00
26.7 grams of cocaine valued at $2,670.00
As a result of the investigation, four people were charged with one count each of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Charged are Michael BRUNET (m) 33 years old, Belinda MONAHAN (f) 27 years old, Truong Phong DANG (m) 46 years old and Jay FIELDS-LAING (m), 27 years old, all of Ottawa.
Michael BRUNET, Belinda MONAHAN, and Jay FIELDS-LAING are also charged jointly with:
Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Truong Phong DANG is also charged with:
Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Breach of Probation under sec 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
Another five people were jointly charged with one count each of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Charged are Adam TAPP (m) 23 years old, Michael RICHARDS (m) 22 years old, Chika EKEKE (m) 20 years old, Mohamed TORABI (m) 21 years old and Jessica BREEN (f), 21 years old, all of Ottawa.
Adam TAPP and Jessica BREEN are also charged jointly with:
Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of a Schedule II Substance (marihuana) under Sec 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Chika EKEKE is charged with:
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) under Sec 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00 under Sec 355(b) of the Criminal Code
Breach of Recognizance X2 under Sec 145(3) of the Criminal Code
Truong Phong DANG and Chika EKEKE were held for Show Cause Hearings on May 14, 2015; Belinda MONAHAN, Adam TAPP, Michael RICHARDS, Mohamed TORABI, and Jessica BREEN were released on Promises to Appear with court dates on June 17, 2015 and Michael BRUNET and Jay FIELDS-LAING were released on Promises to Appear with court dates on June 24, 2015.
