Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant on March 4, 2014 at a private residence located on Downie Line, West Elgin, ON.
The search warrant resulted in police seizing one hundred and seventy four (174) Cannabis Marihuana plants along with approximately nine (9) pounds of dry marihuana bud and thirty (30) pounds of marihuana shake. Police also seized production equipment from the indoor grow operation.
Police have arrested and charged Van Khai TANG, age 49, of London, Ontario in connection with the operation. He has been charged with;
1. Production cannabis marihuana section 7(1) CDSA
2. Possession for the purpose section 5(2) CDSA
3. Theft of hydro section 326(1)(a) Criminal Code
TANG was released on an officer in charge undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in St. Thomas Criminal Court on March 31 2014
