(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant on October 17, 2013 at a private residence located on Kintyre Line, West Elgin, ON.
The search warrant resulted in police seizing nine (9) mature marihuana plants along with approximately ten (10) pounds of dry marihuana bud; approximately 6 grams of Cannabis resin and production equipment all from an outdoor grow operation.
Police also seized a Colt AR15 .223 Calibre semi-automatic rifle (restricted firearm) as well as a Ruger.22 Calibre semi-automatic rifle (non-restricted firearm) from the residence.
Police have arrested and charged Jeffrey Robert WRIGHT, age 34, of West Elgin Ontario in connection with the operation.
He is charged with;
Production of a Schedule II Drug (Marihuana) contrary to section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Possession of a Schedule II Drug (Marihuana) over 3kg for the Purposes of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.
Possession of a Schedule II Drug (Cannabis resin) over 1 gram contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.
Possession of a Firearm (Restricted) Knowing its Possession in Unauthorized contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code.
Failing to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
WRIGHT is scheduled to appear in St. Thomas Criminal court on October 18, 2013 for a show cause bail hearing.
Police have also arrested, charged and released on a Promise to Appear Notice Jennifer Anne Lynn RICHARD, age 33 of West Elgin, ON.
She is charged with;
Production of a Schedule II Drug (Marihuana) contrary to section 7(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Possession of a Schedule II Drug (Marihuana) over 3kg for the Purposes of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.
Possession of a Schedule II Drug (Cannabis resin) over 1 gram contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.
Possession of a Firearm (Restricted) Knowing its Possession in Unauthorized contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code.
RICHARD is scheduled to appear in St Thomas criminal court on November 4, 2013.
