Driving On Closed Road In Minto Leads To Arrest

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On January 4, 2017 at approximately 6:45 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officer was monitoring Highway 9, Town of Minto because of a road closure due to poor visibility from blowing snow. The Officer watched a 2010 Chevrolet drive around the road closure sign and a traffic stop occurred. While speaking with the male driver, it was discovered that he was not following a court condition and was arrested. He was transported to a local OPP Operations Centre and held for a bail hearing.

50-year-old Mark ELLIOTT of Hanover has been charged with Fail to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code and Driving on a Closed Highway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Bail Court on January 5, 2017
