(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On April 5, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped the driver of a Kia Forte on the Hanlon Parkway in the City Guelph.
The driver failed to provide proof of insurance as required under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (C.A.I.A) of Ontario.
Upon investigation, 49-year-old Tito CRESPIN-AGUILAR of Guelph has been charged with driving with no insurance contrary to the C.A.I.A. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court to answer to the charges.
Drivers are reminded that on a first conviction an owner of a motor vehicle without insurance may be fined from $5,000 to $25,000. Subsequent convictions fines can range from $10,000 to $50,000. They may also receive a licence suspension in addition to fines.
