DRIVER ISSUED A THREE DAY SUSPENSION AND CHARGED WITH SPEEDING

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On December 16, 2013, just before 4:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped a Honda vehicle on Highway 401 eastbound, east of Duart Road.

While officers were speaking with the driver, 26 year old Justin VISKANTAS, from Mississauga, ON, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension.

The driver was served with a three day driver’s licence suspension and charged with Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road, arrive safely.
