(TECUMSEH, ON) -Members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a personal injury collision on County Road 46 west of Sexton Side Road at 3:18 a.m. this morning.
Investigation revealed that a 57 year old male from Woodslee Ontario was operating a motor vehicle when it ran off the road and struck a culvert. While attempting to arrest the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, the driver resisted arrest and had to be restrained.
He was transported to an area hospital where is presently being treated for his injuries. A parallel OPP investigation into the collision is underway.
The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
