Donald P. EDWARD – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – On January 1, 2014 shortly after midnight, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol in the area of Airport Road and Cranston Drive. The officer observed as the driver of a gray Lexus sedan was travelling at a high rate of speed and swerving within the marked lane. The officer determined that the driver was operating the vehicle at 140 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. Subsequently, the officer activated the cruiser’s emergency equipment and conducted a vehicle stop to check on the driver’s sobriety.

Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and his eyes were glossy. As a result, the male was arrested and transported to the Detachment for testing.

As a result of the traffic stop, Donald P. EDWARD, 63, of Springwater Township was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on January 23, 2014.
