On the 1st of February 2014, a 37 year old male and 36 year old female decided to have date night at a restaurant on Dunlop Street in the City of Barrie. The two parties ended up at a restaurant, had a few drinks, decent meal followed by a few more drinks.
As the end of the night approached, the male was ready to go and the female was interested in a couple more drinks. Both parties were intoxicated and became involved in a verbal argument at the front entrance of the restaurant. The male had a hold of the females arm and was trying to pull her out of the restaurant. the female was resistant in her attempts to remain in the establishment. The male became frustrated and pushed the female into the front brick wall of the establishment. The female subsequently lost her balance, fell into the wall and split her head open on impact.
Police were contacted, attended and arrested the male for domestic assault as he was subdued by staff members after the assault. The female who was in and out of conciousness and required medical treatment for her injuries. The victim was transported to RVH and the male was transported to the Barrie Police Station where he was charged with domestic assault and held pending a bail hearing.
