Barrie Police investigated an incident of domestic assault that occurred on September 3rd in the area of Ferris Lane. The couple have been in a common law relationship for the past 6 years. The initial arguement started because they were walking along the street visible to the public and the woman wanted to start drinking alcohol that they had with them. The male victim told her not to do that. The 41 year old woman then swung a bottle at her boyfriend’s head and made contact with his head. He ended up getting a cut to his right eye and was bleeding.
Following this altercation, the two went home and continued to consume alcohol. He did not go and seek medical attention and did not call the police at this time. Once back at home, they argued more about money and bills getting paid. The female accused was getting verbally aggressive and was ordering her boyfriend to get the bills looked after or she would harm him physically. Due to the fact that she had just hit with a bottle in his head, he felt she was capable of carrying out this threat.
The man told her that he was calling the police and she left. The woman was arrested on today’s date and taken into custody. She was charged criminally with Assault with a weapon and Utter Threats. She is being held pending her bail hearing on September 5th in answer to the charges.
