Barrie Police were called to a Caruthers St home for a report of a domestic assault in progress.
Police arrived at the home and observed a 31 year old male atop his common law wife punching her in the head and face.
The male was arrested for domestic assault and taken to the Barrie Police Service for a bail hearing.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
