The WFP has received several complaints from readers about their recycling being picked up by the garbage truck, along with the regular trash. This morning we observed this first hand.
The garbage truck that was picking up tagged bags of garbage on Josephine, was also dumping the recycling boxes in to the same truck. This same action was observed on Alfred Street East minutes later.
I contacted Town Hall and I got a speedy response from our Town Clerk. Apparently Waste Management has new trucks that can handle both garbage and recycling. The recycling is dumped into its own compartment, then transported and sorted at a recycling plant.
In the near future, it is our understanding that all North Huron’s garbage and recycling will be done this way. This will likely result in a new rules for which side of the street our garbage and recycling are to be put.
