DISTRACTED DRIVING & SEATBELT SURVEYS

To support the OPP Distracted Driving Campaign, on Saturday March 8 and Friday March 14, 2014, Smith-Ennismore Community Policing Volunteers performed Distracted Driving and Seatbelt surveys in Bridgenorth to monitor the compliance of vehicle drivers with the following results:

Number of vehicles observed: 1,804

Number of drivers observed texting or using a cell phone: 17

Number of Drivers observed NOT wearing a seatbelt: 25

Smith-Ennismore Community Policing will continue to conduct such surveys in hope that they will act as a reminder to be a driver that pays attention while driving; and ALWAYS wear a seatbelt. Inattentive driving can result in a charge of Careless Driving and drivers texting, using a cellular phone or a hand held entertainment device, whether moving or stopped at an intersection, are committing the offence of Distracted Driving.

Drive Safe & Buckle Up!
