Dine and Dash, Bear Sighting, Warrants

Police responded to a complaint from a downtown establishment after a male consumed a few beverages then departed without paying. Officers located the 50 year old male a short distance away and checks on him revealed he was currently before the courts on two other similar incidents. He was held for a bail hearing.

Around 9:00pm Monday night police received two complaints from citizens in the Shoreview Park area of a bear sighting. The bear was not located but police are reminding people not to approach and to call police should have any sightings.

A 52 year old male contacted police Monday night reporting a fight with his roommate. Police attended and while investigating the fright found the complaint was currently wanted by the Barrie Police for failing to attend on a previous assault charge. He was held for a bail hearing.

Date: Monday, May 25, 2015 – 8:20am

On may 25th, 2015, members of the Barrie Police and Barrie Fire Dept. responded to a structure fire on Mapleview Drive East. Once on scene, responders found an abandoned farm house with a rear entry door on fire. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Dept. and the fire was deemed suspicious in nature. As a result, Barrie Police Criminal Investigators attended the location. Members of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office also attended and are currently processing the scene. The damage to the home is estimated to be in the $25 000 range.
