Devon BENOIT – Drunk Driving, Drugs

(WAWA, ON) – During the evening of June 11, 2015, officers from the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. checks in the town of Wawa.

At approximately 1:45 a.m., a blue pickup truck approached the check point, the driver was observed making a quick turn away from the officers and proceeded to drive away. The motor vehicle was stopped a short distance. Investigation revealed the male driver had been drinking.

As a result Devon BENOIT (19) of Wawa Ontario was charged with the following offences;

– Driving With more than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC

– Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

A 90-day driver’s licence suspension was issued and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa on July 13, 2015.
