(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – On April 6th, 2015, at approximately 7:15pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County Detachment responded to several calls of fail to remain collisions involving a burgundy pickup truck. Information was that the burgundy pickup truck was travelling on County Rd 3 in the Ward of Ameliasburgh when it struck several motor vehicles.
The driver of the suspect vehicle eventually lost control of the vehicle and was involved in a single motor vehicle collision. The driver left the vehicle on foot and after a brief foot pusuit the suspect was arrested by police.
Dennis WEEDMAN age 50 of Ameliasburgh has been charged with the following offences:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Fail to stop at the scene of accident X2 contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
There were no reported injuries during the incident.
The 50 year old male is schedule to appear on April 22nd in The Ontario Court of Justice Picton to answer to the charges.
