(KENORA, ON) – On Tuesday April 19, 2016, shortly after 6:00 pm., officers from the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a deceased male being located along the shoreline of Powder Island on Lake of the Woods. Members of the Kenora OPP Marine and Trails Unit and the Kenora Forensic Identification Unit attended the location on April 20 and recovered the male.
The deceased has been identified as 28 year old Keith AYERS of Baudette, Minnesota. He was reported missing to the Lake of the Woods Sheriff’s Department in Baudette, MN on October 3, 2015 after his fishing party did not return to their resort as scheduled. Two other men from the incident were located deceased on October 9 and 11 in the United States waters of Lake of the Woods.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for April 23, 2016 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
