(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On July 26, 2015 at approximately 1:09 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 6 near College Avenue in the City of Guelph. Officers investigated the driver of a 2010 Toyota that entered into the checkpoint. Police suspected that the driver had consumed alcohol and a Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
43-year-old David NEAMTU of Cambrige has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 4, 2015 to answer to his charge.
