(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On February 6, 2016 at approximately 12:10 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2006 Honda that was travelling eastbound on Speedvale Avenue West from Wellington Road 32 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
Officers observed the vehicle weaving within the lane and noted that the vehicle speeds fluctuated by approximately 20 km/hr. Police spoke with the driver and detected the strong odour of alcohol on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was taken to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
38-year-old Dat Van DO of Guelph has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 1, 2016 to answer to the charge.
