(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On October 1, 2015, at approximately 8:55 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on Carriage Road near Westminster Drive, for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offence.
Officers determined that the driver of the black Chevrolet pickup truck had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. The male was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.
As a result of the police investigation, 29-year-old Darren SMITH, from London, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to answer to the charge in a London court on November 12, 2015.
