Dao TRAN – Dangerous Driving On Motorcycle

(Ottawa, ON) On the 21st of August 2013, at approximately 12:15 am, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Ottawa Detachment stopped a motorcycle travelling on Highway 417 eastbound for dangerous driving and stunt driving.

Investigation revealed that 3 motorcycles entered Highway 417 eastbound at the Maitland Avenue at a high rate of speed. The motorcycles were keeping pace with each other while weaving in and out of traffic with speed reaching 168 km/h and some within the 80 km/h construction zone near Vanier Parkway and St-Laurent Boulevard. The motorcycles continued onto Regional Road 174 and exited at Blair Road. The officer was able to get one of the motorcycles stopped at Blair Road.

The male operator, 26 year old Dao TRAN of Orleans has been charged with dangerous driving and is scheduled to appear in Ottawa court on the 26th of September 2013. He is also charged with stunt driving is scheduled to appear in Ottawa Provincial Offences court on the 27th of September 2013.

The two other motorcycles left the scene and police are asking for any information on this incident to contact the detachment at 613-270-9171.
