Daniel POIRIER – Drive While Disqualified – Snowmobile Impounded

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 29 year old snowmobiler is facing a Drive Disqualified charge after he was stopped on a local snowmobile trail on February 4, 2014. Just after 2:00 p.m. officers from the Huron County Ontario Provincial (OPP) Detachment encountered the driver on an Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail southwest of Clinton.

The Huron OPP officers on snowmobile patrol stopped the driver of a Bombardier 600 snowmobile to see if he had a valid licence and documents for the snow machine. Upon completing their checks the driver did not have a valid permit for the snowmobile and it was also learned the driver was prohibited from driving.

As a result, Daniel POIRIER, 29, from Central Huron has been charged with Drive Disqualified contrary to section 259 (4)(a) Criminal Code and Fail to Display Evidence of Permit contrary to section 2 (8) Motorized Snow Vehicles Act. He now has a court appearance scheduled for Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 24, 2014.

His snowmobile has been impounded for a mandatory 45 days.
