(CALEDON, ON) – On April 2nd, 2015 shortly after 4 pm, officers from the Community Response Unit (CRU) of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Mountainview Road. A male operating a silver Chevy Equinox approached the check and officers immediately observed a bag containing a green leafy substance consistent with marihuana protruding from his coat pocket. The officers seized the substance, believed to be marihuana and further observed that the driver displayed signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver was requested to produce a sample of his breath into an approved roadside screening device. The sample provided registered a fail and the driver was transported to Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the RIDE check, Daniel Edmund ORR, 28, from Caledon was arrested and charged with Over 80 and Possession of a Schedule II Substance.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released and he is scheduled to make a first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 20th, 2015.
