Daniel CANNON – Drunk Driving Collision

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single motor vehicle collision in McDougall Township.

On November 27, 2014 at approximately 1:20 a.m. a black Chevrolet truck was travelling on McDougal Road and drove off the road causing massive damage to the vehicle. Further investigation revealed a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver.

The driver, Daniel CANNON, 27 years of age from McKellar Township was arrested and has been charged with:

Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood contrary to the (CC)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 18, 2014.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. The annual R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign runs from November 24, 2014 to January 2, 2015 and has become a familiar part of the holiday season and an effective countermeasure to the road safety issue of impaired driving.

Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
