The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 74 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested. Three of the seven people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK15007934
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter in Chatham.
Yesterday morning around 8:20 a.m. an observant citizen watched as the man rode his bicycle past a residence on Oxley Drive several times. The citizen witnessed the man enter the garage and attempt to steal a Trek bicycle. The citizen confronted the man and alerted the homeowner to call police.
The 19-year-old Chatham man was charged with break and enter. He was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Drug Offences CK15007998
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a traffic stop in Tilbury.
Around 9:00 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol observed a red GMC pick-up truck travelling on Dufferin Street near Centre Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation learned that the passenger was in possession of a used bong with visible residue and plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine. A query of the man revealed that he was also currently bound by conditions not to possess illegal drugs.
The 24-year-old Chatham was charged with drug possession and failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) CK15008000
Last night, officers conducted a RIDE spot check on Chatham Street North in Blenheim. Ten vehicles were stopped with no infractions observed.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15007976
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Raleigh Street near Gray Street in Chatham.
No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $6000.
A 57-year-old Chatham woman was charged with disobeying a stop sign.
A 42-year-old Chatham woman was charged with driving while under suspension.
