The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 144 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Update: Weapons Call at John McGregor Secondary School CK15001682
As previously reported, around 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning, police received information that a student at JMSS on Cecile Avenue in Chatham was in possession of a weapon.
The school immediately secured the area. Within minutes, officers located the student and he was taken in custody without incident.
The 17-year-old Chatham youth was found to be in possession of a knife.
He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of February 9, 2015.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK15001765
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following an incident of domestic violence in Wallaceburg last night.
Around 7:00 p.m. a man and woman began arguing. As the woman attempted to leave the residence with their children, the man held the door closed and assaulted her. Eventually, the man took the woman’s car keys and left the residence. The woman did not require medical attention.
This morning around 12:30 a.m. officers located the man in Sarnia and he was taken into custody. The 31-year-old Alberta man has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK15001766
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a disturbance last night.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. police received information that two men, known to each other, were fighting on the side of the road while fixing a flat tire on McCreary Line in Chatham Township. The victim sustained minor injuries to his face. The accused fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. officers located the man, under the influence of alcohol, in Dresden. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to consume alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, failing to comply and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Domestic Assault CK15001775
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic dispute in Highgate.
Last night, a man and woman began arguing when the incident escalated into a physical altercation. The man assaulted the woman and damaged a door. The woman did not require medical attention.
The 36-year-old Highgate man has been charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
