CRUSIERS DAMAGED IN ARREST OF IMPAIRED DRIVER

(THAMES CENTRE, ON)- On Friday November 1, 2013 at 10:33 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) responded to a call from the public of a possible impaired driver, travelling westbound on Dundas Street from the Thamesford area. Within minutes, officers located the suspect vehicle in the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle failed to stop for police and attempted to flee the area at a high rate of speed. A suspect apprehension pursuit (SAP) was initiated.

While attempting to conduct a traffic stop on Dundas Street at Veteran’s Memorial Parkway, the suspect vehicle, described as a maroon Buick Riviera struck a second OPP vehicle. The driver again attempted to flee the area but was successfully stopped by police, during which time two OPP vehicles sustained minor damage. The driver was placed under arrest arrested at the scene and no injuries were reported.

As a result of an investigation, police have charged Kelly-Lynn WILSON, age 23 of London, ON with:

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle as per Section 249(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer 249.1(1) CC
Fail to Comply with Recognizance 145(3) CC
Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample 254(3)- Drugs/blood 254(5) CC

The accused party was remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on a later date to speak to the charges.
