On November 15, 2016 at 10:09 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Pet store on Edinburgh Road South for the report of a theft. A bearded dragon was stolen from a cage in the store. It is valued at $89. Two suspects were described in this theft, a male and female. Days later the animal was left in a box outside the store and a call to employees advised them where they could find it. The animal was located but died soon after.
On December 8, 2016 the female took responsibility for the theft and turned herself in to police.
The 23-year-old Guelph female has been charged with theft under $5,000. She will appear in court on January 13, 2017.
