Criminal Cuts Fibre Optic Line In Listowel

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating damage done to fibre optic cable north of Listowel.

Investigation revealed that at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday October 13, 2015 someone attended at the intersection of Hwy 23 and Line 87. The person entered the grassy ditch area to the north west of the intersection, to the east of the Listowel Christian School property and Hwy 23. While in the grassy area the person accessed a fiber optic cable and used a sharp object to cut the line.

The damage disrupted telecommunication service and a vital emergency lifeline for customers in and around Listowel. The affected telecommunication providers attended the scene and restored service to their customers.

The Perth County OPP is requesting assistance from the public in trying to identify the person responsible for this mischief. If you observed a parked vehicle or a suspicious person in the area of Hwy 23, and Line 87 around 7:30 p.m. last night, you are requested to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
