Crash Near Clinton Claims 2 Lives

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Members from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment remain on scene of a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred earlier today (25Dec) west of Clinton.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Central Huron Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the crash scene located on Telephone Road west of Fish & Game Line. Upon arrival emergency personnel located a crossover utility vehicle that had left the roadway, overturned and became submerged in water.

Both the driver and passenger were removed from the vehicle and transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

The deceased have been identified as 72-year-old George RICH and 69-year-old Mary WOOD both from Central Huron.

Telephone Road between Parr Line and Fish & Game Line remains closed while investigators from the OPP West Region Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team investigate. Please use an alternate route to avoid delays.

The roadway is expected to be open by midnight.
