(CALEDON, ON) – On October 3rd, 2014 officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began a shoplifting investigation stemming from a Village of Bolton retail food store. Officers learned that a female had entered the store, filled a shopping cart with over $700.00 in goods and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. The female was intercepted by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer at which time the female threated to cause him bodily harm. The female was observed leaving the area in a vehicle in a northerly direction on Regional Road 50.
Later that evening, members from the Caledon OPP Street Crime Unit located the vehicle in the Village of Bolton and conducted a vehicle stop. The female provided a false verbal identity to the officers. The officers confirmed the driver’s true identity and she was arrested for Obstructing Police and transported to Detachment.
Further, officers found her to be in possession of stolen identification which had been utilized in a previous police dealing.
As a result, Michellea PESCE, 39, from Caledon was arrested and charged with Identity Theft, Personation with Intent to avoid arrest, Obstruct Peace Officer, 2 counts of Driving while Disqualified and Failing to comply with Probation Order, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Robbery with Violence and Theft Under $5,000.
Street Crime Officers further learned that on September 29th, 2014, the accused female and a male entered a Village of Bolton retail store and stole a sound bar system. The couple were intercepted by a store employee but left the area with the stolen merchandise.
On October 7th, 2014 Jason William F. RICHARDSON, 29, of Guelph was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date.
