Corrections Employee Charged

(NAPANEE, ON) – The Crime Unit from the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an employee of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) after an investigation at Quinte Detention Centre.

Detectives began their investigation in March of 2015 after information was received from the Correctional Services Oversight and Investigations Unit of the MCSCS that a correctional officer at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee may have provided contraband to inmates. At the conclusion of the investigation police arrested and charged Rosemarie CORDEIRO 45 of Tyendinaga Township with one count of breach of trust by a public officer. She was released on a Promise to Appear and an Officer-In-Charge Undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Napanee on September 21, 2015.
