(CULROSS TWP, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is sending another warning to residents to watch out for scams following a successful con in Culross Township. On April 17, 2014 at 5:11 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of an elderly resident sending $570 in answer to the lottery scam. The lottery scam has been operating for a long time and often times, the “prize winner†is notified of the “win†by telephone. In the course of the conversation, an amount of money is requested to “secure the prizeâ€Â.
The South Bruce OPP is asking residents to question unsolicited contacts (unsolicited means that you didn’t ask for it). How do you win a contest that you didn’t enter in the first place? The scams will continue as the long as the scammers continue to make money. It’s your money; you work hard to earn it so work hard to protect it.
