Computer Hacking – Male Charged

In the spring of 2014, the Owen Sound Police Service had received a complaint from a local company of computer hacking. The hacking resulted in files being deleted and information being changed causing a disruption in the operations of the business. The investigation involved several judicial authorizations to examine data and user information from Internet providers and other Internet companies.

As a result of the investigation, an ex employee of the company was identified as being responsible. The 28 year old man from Owen Sound is facing charges of Mischief to Data and two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Computer. The man was released from custody to attend court on December 4th. No personal information belonging to members of the public was compromised.
