Collision Update and Correction – St. Clair TWP

-UPDATE- AND -CORRECTION-

DRIVER AND DECEASED IDENTIFIED

Investigation Continuing

(ST.CLAIR TWP, ON)- After additional investigation the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have now determined that the deceased was a passenger in the motor vehicle, not the driver.

The deceased female has been identified as Sandra MCKELVIE- BROWN, 37 years-of-age of Petrolia Ontario. It has since been determined the deceased was a passenger in the involved motor vehicle, not the driver, as previously disclosed.

The driver of the motor vehicle, Grace MCDAID, 63 years-of-age, and three additional passengers, a 37 year old male and two children; a one and five year old, all from Petrolia Ontario, attended the hospital to be treated for their injuries. The status of the injuries sustained to the driver and passengers are unknown.

Results In One Fatality And Four Injuries

(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON)- On May 5, 2016 at 4:45 p.m. the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Petrolia Line, west of Waubuno Road within St. Clair Township in order to investigate a single motor vehicle collision.

Early stages of the OPP investigation has revealed that a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) was travelling west bound on Petrolia Line and west of Waubuno Road when it lost control, entered the north ditch, rolled several times, ejecting the driver and finally coming to rest in a farmers field.

The ejected driver, a 37 year old female was pronounced dead at the scene. Also located within the SUV were two adults and two children. The four additional passengers were taken to hospital to be treated for collision related injuries. The extent of the passenger’ injuries are unknown at this time.

Members of the Lambton OPP and the West Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigators remain at the scene in order to gather evidence and to determine the cause of the collision. It is expected that Petrolia Line between Waubuno and Kimball Roads will be closed until 10:00 p.m. while the OPP continue their investigation.

The OPP will not be releasing the names of the deceased or the passengers pending a reasonable opportunity to advise the next-of-kin.
