Collision investigation

On January 23, 2014 at 4:15 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to a traffic incident that occurred on Macdonell Street at the intersection of Woolwich Street (Wellington St. E.). It is alleged that one motor vehicle intentionally pushed another motor vehicle into the intersection against a red traffic signal. No traffic travelling on the intersecting roadway (with a green light) struck the vehicle that had been pushed into the intersection.

Witnesses to this event called police immediately. The suspect motor vehicle was described as a Pontiac Sunfire 4 door (grey). This vehicle and its driver were subsequently identified by police, and the driver was cautioned with respect to potential criminal charges.

The police are still seeking the other driver, who was the victim of this event. This person was only described as an elderly male. The vehicle that he was driving was described as an older model station wagon (silver), and perhaps a Volvo or VW product.

Police are asking this driver or anyone who knows him, to please contact the Guelph Police at 519-824-1212 ext. 7232. Anonymous tips can be left at CRIME STOPPERS 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at www.crimestoppersguelphwellington.com
