Local citizens stop to help a woman in need yesterday in Chatham.
Around 12:30 p.m. police received a call from a passing motorist regarding a distraught woman walking on the Lacroix Street Bridge. Two men were driving northbound on Lacroix Street when they also observed the woman, now standing on the river side of the bridge. The men stopped and one of them approached the woman asking if he could help. After speaking with the woman for a minute, the man grabbed the woman around the waist and pulled her over the guard rail back to safety.
The 41-year-old Chatham woman was transported to hospital for medical attention.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank those who stopped to intervene, thus saving this woman’s life.
