(HAMILTON TWP, ON) – In late October – early November 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) started a fraud investigation into a general contracting company.
The Northumberland OPP Street Response Team (SRT) have determined that two victims have been defrauded approximately $13,185 combined from a male who operates a company called CORE CONTRACTING. Contracts for roofing and site clearing were entered but were not honored. As a result of this continuing investigation, SRT have made an arrest and charges have been laid.
Clifford William JOHNSON, 48 from Peterborough, Ontario had been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Fraud Over $5,000
Fraud Under $5,000
Fail to Comply Probation – 2 counts
The accused was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 9:30 am.
Police are asking to speak with any person(s) who may have had business dealings with JOHNSON or his company Core Contracting. Anyone with information is asked to call the Northumberland OPP at the Cobourg detachment at 1-905-372-5421 between Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 4:00 pm.
